Description

Imax CD Pour-On for Cattle: Broad-Spectrum Ivermectin Cattle Parasite Control

Imax CD Pour-On for Cattle delivers reliable ivermectin cattle parasite control across a broad range of internal and external parasites in Australian beef and dairy herds. The formula contains 10mg/mL ivermectin, a macrocyclic lactone that acts against ivermectin-sensitive gastrointestinal roundworms, lungworm, sucking and biting lice, mites, buffalo fly, and cattle tick in a single low-volume pour-on application. Elanco Australasia Pty Ltd produces Imax CD for practical field use across both beef and dairy systems, including in lactating dairy cows.

Producers apply Imax CD at 1mL per 20kg of liveweight along the topline from the withers to the tailhead, so each treatment needs minimal product volume while still achieving effective parasite knockdown. Furthermore, Imax CD delivers sustained activity against key species, including up to 28 days control of lungworm (Dictyocaulus viviparus) and buffalo fly (Haematobia irritans exigua), and up to 14 days against small brown stomach worm (Ostertagia spp.). As a result, producers can place Imax CD at the centre of a strategic treatment programme during peak worm, fly, and tick seasons.

Questions and answers from customers

Is Imax CD-Pour-On for Cattle rainfast? What is the withholding period for meat cattle?

  1. Q Is Imax CD-Pour-On for Cattle rainfast? What is the withholding period for meat cattle?
Asked by Ross on February 6, 2026 11:04 am
    Answered by the admin

Imax CD Pour-On is not immediately rainfast. The label states that cattle should not be treated when the hide is wet, and that rainfall within 2 hours of application will affect efficacy. After more than 2 hours after application, you can expect Imax CD Pour-On to be rainfast.

The Withholding period for meat is 42 days before slaughter for human consumption.

  2. Can I put Imax CD Pour-On on calves?

  3. Q Can I put Imax CD Pour-On on calves?
Asked by Bruce on November 21, 2023 1:22 pm
    Answered by the admin

Imax CD Pour-On can technically be applied to calves. However, the application rates start at 50kg and above. Younger cattle that are still suckling will obtain some benefits transferred through the milk. Further clarification can be obtained from Elanco at [email protected] or 1800226324.

Tips For Use

Application

  • Apply along the topline in a narrow, continuous strip from the withers to the tailhead.
  • Base the dose on the heaviest animal in each group (bulls, cows, steers, calves, etc.).
  • Where there is a large variation in size within the group, draft into two or more weight lines to avoid overdosing.
  • Do not underdose. Weigh cattle with scales or a weigh band prior to treatment.
  • Do not treat cattle when the hide or hair is wet, as this may reduce efficacy. Rainfall occurring within 2 hours of application may also reduce efficacy.
  • Temporary hair loss may occasionally occur at the application site but resolves without further treatment.

Retreatment

  • Do not retreat with Imax CD Pour-On for Cattle within the meat withholding period of 42 days.

Cattle Tick Management

  • Maximum tick efficacy is achieved 4 to 5 days post-treatment.
  • Viable eggs may have been laid by engorged female ticks dropping from cattle in the initial days after treatment. Consider this when planning a strategic tick control programme.
  • Alternate Imax CD with conventional dips or pour-ons when the programme requires repeat treatments.

General Instructions

  • Imax CD is for external application to cattle only. Do not use in other species.
  • For best results, incorporate Imax CD into a total parasite control programme covering both internal and external parasites. Consult your veterinarian for a complete programme.
  • The colour of the Imax CD may fade on exposure to light. This colour loss does not reflect a loss of ivermectin potency. However, prolonged exposure (weeks) to light can cause a gradual decline in potency. Store away from direct sunlight.
  • Cloudiness may develop if stored below 0°C. Allowing the product to warm to room temperature restores normal appearance without affecting efficacy.

Storage

  • Store below 30°C (room temperature). Protect from light.
  • Keep the container tightly closed when not in use.

Environmental Protection

  • Dangerous to fish and other aquatic life. Do not contaminate dams, rivers, streams, or other waterways with the product or used containers.

Safety Directions

  • Harmful if swallowed. Will irritate the eyes and skin.
  • Avoid contact with eyes and skin.
  • When using this product, wear cotton overalls buttoned to the neck and wrist (or equivalent clothing), elbow-length chemical-resistant gloves, and goggles.
  • If the product contacts the skin, wash the affected area immediately with soap and water.
  • If the product contacts the eyes, flush immediately with water.
  • Wash your hands after use. After each day’s use, wash gloves, goggles, and contaminated clothing.
